About My Clients
I specialize in supporting people who are navigating significant life transitions, especially transitions related to college, work, and/or parenthood. I also have significant experience working with people who have experienced trauma, people exploring their identity, and people wanting to develop more self-compassion in all life stages. Clients describe me as gentle, real, strategic, and having a joyful presence.
My Background and Approach
As a trauma-informed therapist, I know that trust is the most important therapy tool. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindful Self-Compassion, and incorporate these as well as the cultural practices and tools of my clients into my work. I won’t leave you wondering how to use your therapy sessions. I will talk with you directly about what you want and need, will make suggestions about next steps/directions if needed, and will welcome open conversation if you feel unsure or stuck. As a white, cishet provider, I am attentive to the impact I have on others, as well as the experiences of marginalization many experience in the context of health care. I am actively and regularly engaged in my own on-going professional and personal work to understand and dismantle white supremacy and other biases and advocate around systemic change. I invite clients’ unique culture, identities, and experiences to help guide the therapeutic process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have inner wisdom and that we all deserve compassion, from other people and from ourselves, especially in the midst of difficult times. I also know that sometimes these are hard to access. I believe that life can be beautiful and also holds immense suffering, and at times we need a partner to walk through that. I also believe that human beings are incredible and able to rise above and move through loss, trauma, pain, and change. I believe in metaphors, hence my practice name: WiseSpring. I look forward to helping you tap into yours.
