About My Clients
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming. Maybe you're trying to juggle too much, or struggling to feel motivated at all. Trauma and grief can pop back up as you face new challenges and make transitions in life. It can feel like you're stuck on a hamster wheel, trying to outrun the stress, anxiety, depression - and that's where therapy can help, we can work to help your step off that wheel and focus on what's important and fulfilling in your life.
My Background and Approach
I'm a clinical social worker with over 15 years experience working with individuals dealing with trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. I was trained in techniques to treat PTSD At Walter Reed, working with individuals with TBI and other disabilities. I have experience working in crisis settings as well as private practice. I am neurodiversity affirming, gender affirming, and racial justice aligned. I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel validated and understood. Building a strong connection is the most important step in therapy, and that is why I use a person centered approach, adapting to each person’s needs. Together we can use evidence based strategies to work on your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of my favorite approaches in therapy is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which focuses on mindfulness and personal values. My background is in philosophy, and I'm always excited to talk about belief systems and identity - I'm here to work on reducing symptoms and solving specific problems if that's your focus, but I'm also ready to dive into questions of meaning and value. I enjoy how therapy leads us to question and rethink our assumptions. I'm passionate about social justice, and that is part of what brought me to social work in the first place. I respect you as the expert in your own lived experience. I enjoy working with neurodivergent clients, supporting folks navigating the stressors of living a society geared for the neurotypical. Share about your special interests and what makes them so great, I'm always curious and ready to learn!
