About My Clients

Psychotherapy can provide much-needed relief from symptoms and promote well-being crucial to overcoming adversity and past traumas. My clients are usually high functioning on the outside, but in deep distress on the inside. We will bring this distress into the therapy room, where it is contained and observed. I see survivors of trauma, clients experiencing relationship issues, difficulty expressing emotions, men's issues, and those with postpartum depression.

My Background and Approach

I began my career with a focus on sex crime and victims of sexual assault and abuse approached from a psychodynamic perspective. Integrating those experiences into the life you have is central in moving forward from your past. From there, I branched out into other areas of distress, including masculinity and relationship issues. After having my baby, I began seeing more new mothers and those experiencing postpartum depression. In therapy, I will aim to provide people with more understanding of their experiences and distress in addition to practical interventions that can be used when you're out in the world. In addition to trauma work, I am well-versed in stress accumulation and associated burnout, postpartum issues, generalized anxiety and familial difficulties. My aim is to help clients process their lived experiences and associated emotions in order to foster greater meaning and ease.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I've had a long journey towards finding a job that provides meaning and fulfillment. In addition to psychotherapy, I have taught graduate courses in psychology, written a few book chapters, and occasionally act as an expert witness in criminal trials. I believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of psychotherapy and endeavor to be as honest and authentic with my clients as possible. I believe that meditation, dance, and being outdoors (aka just sitting outside) are essential to my own well-being in addition to caring for animals.
