About My Clients
If any of the following apply to you, you'd be a great match for the work that I do: You're the perfectionistic, people pleaser type with a loud inner critic that needs support in choosing you for once; You usually function at a pretty high level, but lately the anxiety and stress of it all is getting to be too much; You're a teen or 20-something and would like help figuring out who you are; You're queer and would love to have a queer therapist that just gets it.
My Background and Approach
My mission is to cultivate a space in which you feel safe to come as you are and discover your authentic self. I view therapy as an ongoing, collaborative process in which we will establish and revisit goals together. I utilize a trauma-informed lens when examining client issues and believe that the past can provide insight into the present. I tend to incorporate mindfulness, self-compassion, and other modalities into treatment that encourage my clients to establish a more cohesive mind-body connection. I'll probably also talk to you about the stress cycle and the ways to manage your stress, because we're all dealing with something!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my goal to ensure that any client I come into contact with feels understood by me. I am especially passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and providing gender-affirming care. As a queer therapist, I understand what it is like to enter a room and not know if you will be accepted by others, and starting therapy with someone new can bring up similar feelings of uncertainty! I have also dealt with anxiety my entire life and had my own helpful experiences in therapy that I draw on now as a therapist to better the work I do with others. I want my clients to feel like I'm a real person sitting across from them, and not a blank slate. I'll answer questions you ask me about myself, and I'll react to things you say! I want you to know that I'm feeling it all with you, too.
