About My Clients
Mar is most interested in offering support to QTBIPOC individuals, disabled individuals, folks living with a chronic illness, and people in non-traditional relationships. Æ is also interested in supporting anyone questioning their identities and aiming to understand how their intersecting identities influence one another. Mar recognizes that therapy looks different for everyone and is invested in building supportive and empathetic relationships with their clients.
My Background and Approach
Mar is coming into social work later in life and after 10 years out in the work force. Mar recognizes that therapy looks different for everyone and is invested in building supportive and empathetic relationships with their clients. Æ utilizes a trauma informed lens, recognizing that many people who come into ær’s office are impacted by oppressive systems. Mar is dedicated to listening to their clients, giving them a space to feel the breadth of emotions that may come up during therapy, and empowering them with techniques to better navigate past and current traumas.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am really passionate about supporting and advocating for the queer community. I am also committed to continue being anti-oppressive in practice and to learn, and do better, when I get it wrong. I believe that anyone who works with people, especially with different communities, should strive for cultural humility. I am not and cannot be the expert of everything and believe that you know yourself best. I am here to help support you and help you explore your different identities and challenges that comes up within the society we live in.
