About My Clients

If you are finding yourself stuck in the same patterns of interaction over and over again, progressively losing hope for relationships with other people and for humanity in general, then I may be of service. I often talk with people who have experienced marginalization around sexual orientation, gender, kink practice, race, body size, and religion. We often talk about how prior trauma leads us to feel and to be stuck, and then we work toward finding space for change to be made.

My Background and Approach

When people experience trauma, they develop an excellent skill set for getting through that experience. What they don't get, though, is instruction on how to reconstruct a healthier and more well-balanced life afterward. I often help people who are deconstructing old beliefs or who have left unhealthy environments to examine what skills are helpful and what skills are hurting them at this point. Together, we decide what would be helpful for them to work on instead in their current circumstances. I have training in trauma-informed approaches. I use EMDR, which helps integrate stuck memories with newer, more adaptive, and up-to-date beliefs. I also use parts work, a strategy in which people articulate what parts of themself want different things, how those parts might be in conflict, and how that person can best find a compromise between all of their competing wants and needs.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

One of my guiding principles is that therapy fits the people in the room rather than aligning with some notion of professionalism. Sometimes that looks like sitting on the floor with people, and sometimes it means coloring or playing with fidgets while talking. You are the person who lives your life, and I want to support what goals and actions you decide for yourself. Part of recovering from trauma or deconstructing unhealthy belief systems includes empowering you to make choices that feel best for you. We can walk together and explore what works for you while troubleshooting the challenges that you're currently facing.
