About My Clients

Do you find yourself overthinking everything? Constantly worried you will disappoint someone or they'll get angry with you? Do you walk on eggshells with your parents, partner(s) or friends due to their big reactions? Struggling with feelings that you just don't know what to do with, like resentment, guilt, anxiety? Maybe you learned feelings are dangerous. I specialize in working with people pleasers, intellectualizers and those who don't feel safe to be authentic about their needs.

My Background and Approach

I have in-depth experience working with attachment trauma (basically, how our formative relationships with parents and partners can harm us) as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am certified in Brainspotting, a more somatic and mindful approach to processing difficult emotions and experiences. I also borrow from Internal Family System (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and psychodynamic when working with clients, though the most important thing is what works best for you. First, we establish what helps you feel safe in a session. Then, we'll explore where the pain points are, develop coping skills and supports, and identify the strengths you already have that have gotten you this far. For folks who are people pleasers, intellectualizers, neurodivergent and anyone else who has struggled in relationships, I work to make sure it feels safe to authentically be you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a neurodivergent, queer, chronically ill, and racially justice-minded clinician. I don't just look at what is going on for a client, but what systems may be influencing your symptoms. It is inherently painful to exist in a world that was not built for you. Also, a lot of medical and political systems are designed to not meet our needs. I would argue that a lot of diagnoses are just ways humans respond to stress, not because someone is weak or bad or a problem. I know what it is to exist and feel so unheard. Whether it was with families, medical providers or therapists. I seek first and foremost that my clients feel heard, seen and understood. When you are alone in your experience when asking for help, and no one gets it, it's another trauma unto itself. I have co-therapists that purr. Or, in other words, I have cats. It is a special interest. They will most likely be part of our sessions if you choose to work with me via telehealth.
