About My Clients
Meagan helps clients face a wide range of mental health challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and psychosis. She also has training and experience supporting those who want to reduce their substance use, whether through a sober lifestyle or finding harm reduction strategies that work for them. As a holistic therapist, she recognizes that mental health and physical health are intertwined. Her role is to help give you the skills to overcome those obstacles and see your possibilities.
My Background and Approach
Person-Centered Therapy is the foundation of Meagan's therapeutic style. This means she makes space for my clients to come in as they are, accepting them with empathy and unconditional positive regard. From there, she uses Relational Cultural Theory (RCT). RCT focuses on how issues of social justice and oppression shape our experiences and relationships. Meagan also incorporates Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which gives clients practical skills for coping with distress and communication difficulties. For adults, I specialize in sexuality and pleasure. Many of us have roadblocks that get in the way of being our best, sexually thriving selves. Our past traumas, health issues, upbringing, and self-esteem can take us out of our pleasure and leave us stuck in insecurities. I help people be more mindful and find ways to tap into our wants and needs. This includes learning how to set boundaries and communicate more effectively with partner(s).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Meagan provides a supportive, safe space for people to be who they are. Especially in the US's overwhelming environment, having a place to be vulnerable and heard is transformative. In this regard, she strives to be culturally and politically aware of race, queer, and trans issues.
