About My Clients
I specialize in working with clients that struggle with anxiety, OCD, panic, and/or trauma. I am also trained in an evidenced based trauma therapy called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and also Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD & panic. I have helped adults both young to geriatrics, teens, LGBTQIA community, and families.
My Background and Approach
I take a solution focused and person centered approach to therapy. Meaning that we will develop goals to work toward but also will be free to bounce around with different issues and timelines. Progress to me looks like a client feeling more confident that they can challenge and face their fears with less distress. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is a trauma therapy. ERP is typically used for OCD, phobias, and panic disorder. ART can be used for a variety of concerns not just limited to trauma. I love gaining knowledge about the body/mind connection, how trauma and stress gets stored in our bodies, and how we can feel through our sensations and emotions to find relief. It is very important to me to bring not only cognitive challenging but also feelings focused practices into sessions. That way we can process both thoughts and feelings in order to move through them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that most if not all obstacles in life are opportunities for lessons and personal growth to be made. I got into the mental health field after struggling with OCD, panic, and anxiety as a child and teen. I had a wonderful therapist when I was younger and wanted to be that person for other people. I'm not only knowledgeable in the academic aspect but also the lived experience aspect of anxiety disorders. Even though it was a very challenging part of my life I am grateful for it because it made me the person and therapist that I am today.
