About My Clients

Experiencing gaslighting, bullying, or microaggressions at work? Feel like you’re failing or don’t belong? Feel it in your body? (aches, pains, changes in eating or sleeping) Changes in mood or outlook? (feeling helpless, numb, moody, anxious, or irritable) Difficulty focusing or remembering? Too tired and beat down to look for a new job? I can help you feel like yourself again, regain your sense of purpose, develop skills for coping with stress, and set boundaries with difficult people.

My Background and Approach

I’m here to listen, but sometimes you’re all talked out. I'm a creative arts therapist, which means that we can use more than just talking to get at the heart of what's troubling you. We might use metaphors, images, or storytelling. We might explore where you feel it in your body. That's where your stress is hanging out, anyway. I help my clients work through serious issues, and while there’ll be insights, progress, challenges, and triumphs, sometimes there’ll also be playfulness and maybe even some laughter. My 17 years of experience includes training in grief, loss, and trauma. In addition to being a therapist, I’ve survived toxic workplaces and I’ve had my heart broken by mission-driven orgs riddled with abuse. Because of this, I also have a specialization in diagnosing psychological safety problems in companies. That, coupled with years of grassroots anti-racism work means that I will see not only you but the systems that might further cause you harm.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we spend a lot of our lives "at work" and that those hours shouldn't suck the life out of us. I also believe our jobs aren’t our identities, and that we can pivot to something new at any age. Once, years ago, I had a teenage client ask me if he was weird because he thought the shadow hitting my water glass was beautiful. I told him that whatever messages society sent him, his ability to find the poetry in everyday life was a gift, and that's one of the things that made him special. If anyone's ever made you feel like you are too much or too weird, please reach out, you're the kind of person I like to know! Long before I was a therapist, I was a storyteller. I believe that humans learn and connect through story. Oftentimes, what's holding us back is the story we tell ourselves. I believe that when we have power over our story, it no longer has power over us.
