About My Clients
Traumatic events can be different things from bullying, racial trauma, not being loved and accepted for the color of your skin, body type or ability, or for being in the LBGTQ+ population. They can be the way you were raised in your relationship with caregivers, whether you were abused, lived in unpredictable environments, emotionally/physically neglected or were forced to be the caregiver or parent as a child. I am passionate about supporting my clients in finding their path and empowerment.
My Background and Approach
I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and a member of EMDR International Association. I have extensive experience utilizing EMDR and working with all different types of traumas, from childhood to adulthood. I have ample experience in addiction treatment. I also have training and experience with complex PTSD and dissociation. I have extensive experience in recovery from addiction and working with foster teens. I am understanding, compassionate, and respectful to my clients' individual experiences. I seek to understand and recognize I do not know everything and what it may be life to be in your shoes. I work with all ages and help guide my clients in building a strong foundation fro a new way to experience, engage and see life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I consider myself a trauma therapist and look for things that have happened in your past, where you may have been bullied or unsupported and carry that negative belief and narrative with you throughout life. Through EMDR, you can reprocess these events so that you can take back your life narrative and live a life that you were meant to live. Being taught that you are only as good as the things that you accomplish can set you up for being seen as your value lies in your accomplishments and to be a perfectionist. Or by being told (indirectly or directly) that you can't accomplish things, can make you feel less than even if you know differently. Not having caregivers growing up that you felt accepted by can leave you feeling alone and misunderstood. Whether you were conditioned to be a "easy kid" with being a people pleaser, being over burdened with responsibilities and struggle with putting your needs first, struggle with focusing on your errors and being perfect, EMDR can help.
