About My Clients
Are you queer? Are you poly? Have you ever heard someone say to you that you're weird for feeling that way or identifying that way? I know what that feeling is like; the constant questioning of your own sanity and what you mean to the world and the people around you. Being queer/poly in our culture feels so isolating a lot of the time even more so with the political climate. I desire to help people work through ways of finding their true selves and developing confidence in who they are.
My Background and Approach
The tools that I will provide for you are to help you manage some of the systemic realities that we are currently living in while enjoying every moment that you can be your authentic self. The background that I have in dealing with religious trauma along with identifying as queer myself, I believe through the training I have had, it equips me to empower others to be confident in who they are and maintain boundaries with unsafe people. In working with relationships, I will aid the individuals in the couple/polycule, to listen and respond in helpful ways that allow for reconnection and a deeper sense of intimacy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to be who they are and have habits and behaviors that resemble their values. I do not believe that it is about me as the therapist having all the answers. It is about the therapeutic relationship that cultivates the change that an individual or couple/polycule desires. As a child, I suffered from religious trauma and not knowing who I was. Through several years of therapy, I was able to develop confidence in who I am and allow myself to enjoy all parts of myself, not just some parts. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I make every effort to be present in the community for example, being at Indy Pride events or local drag shows. I enjoy traveling and getting to know new people and hope to connect with you soon.
