About My Clients
I connect with clients who are looking for an active approach to therapy. I am client-centered, non-directive and creative. As opposed to a "listening ear," I provide a dynamic ongoing dialogue that facilitates the collaborative nature of therapeutic work.
My Background and Approach
I have a broad background working with ages 3 and older. I have worked with children and families, many of which were involved in the foster care system and within community and school settings. I have also been in more "traditional" private practice settings and the outpatient clinic of a mental health hospital treating severe mental illness. I take clients all over the world; many of my client diverse from myself. This breadth has kept my approached blended and holistic. I tend to work existentially. Facilitating healing is important but not all work is about rectifying a "problem." We also build happiness/sustained well-being to support wellness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My beliefs would be considered socially progressive. I have a core ethics which I believe to be more universal than traditions/beliefs dictated by culture. I believe in the sanctity of self, and that all persons can live authentically and meaningfully. I am a creative and nurturing person. I devote energy to my garden, home, family, and personal wellness. Professionally, I am interested in the overlap between alternative modalities; fringe medicine; energy work and evidenced-based practice. It is a developing area of research that continues to fascinate me as I value strong clinical acumen, but do not believe that paths to healing are as limited as they have been my allopathic medicine.
