About My Clients
People work with me to deeply understand themselves, create more meaningful connections with others, and learn new ways of coping with their pain and life's challenges. Many patients see me because they are dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD and the effects of trauma, and relationship challenges. But often, those are broad terms for more subtle issues—maybe you feel dissatisfied, stuck, confused, distant, lonely, uncertain, lost, or have difficult feelings about yourself or others.
My Background and Approach
I can help you relate to your challenges in new ways. We will try to slow down, notice and be curious. We will work to understand the root of what is troubling you, how you've been dealing with it, and what gets in the way of change. We will strive to listen deeply and respectfully, creating space for new and unheard parts of yourself to emerge. I have training in and am an ongoing student of psychodynamic psychotherapy, relational psychoanalysis, and Jungian psychotherapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the process of feeling, experiencing and examining our struggles promotes growth—increased awareness, new ways of being, more empathy, different ways of relating to ourselves and others, and more meaning and connection. I believe that examining our social identities (e.g., racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, ability status, body type, socioeconomic, etc.) are essential to the therapy process, and that no topic is off-limits in therapy.
