About My Clients
I enjoy working with couples that are struggling and in conflict. Using the Gottman method and tools, seeing the relationship transform from disaster, and conflict to connection and partnership. I have enjoyed grief group work as well. For individual clients I enjoy working with people who have experienced trauma and grief. I have enjoyed working with clients who are struggling with their sexual identity and discrimination. I enjoy working with people regarding codependency.
My Background and Approach
I have training in using Gottman method therapy, I have competed level 3 and am now working on certification. This is the approach I use for couples. I have training using the grief recovery handbook for both group and individuals. I started working in the field in 2005, at that time I worked with teens in a locked facility. I knew I wanted to provide therapy and be able to help in a deeper way. I have been working for county behavior health for the past 6 years. I completed my training and started interning as well in private practice. While with the county I have worked with bipolar, anxiety, trauma as well as depression. My desire is to be able to work in private practice and reduce barriers and stigma to receiving mental health care. I really enjoy brining humor and authentic empathy into therapy for healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe Black Lives Matter. I am an ally for LGBTQ. I consider myself spiritual, not religious. I enjoy learning about people’s religious and spiritual beliefs, rituals that help them in healing. I believe that trauma can be stored in the body, both from generational trauma as well as individuals.
