About My Clients
You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support. I specialize in working with queer and trans young adults who are curious to learn more about themselves, play with new ways of being and being seen, and focusing on improving relationships, coping with anxious thoughts, building self-esteem, and undoing internalized oppression.
My Background and Approach
Drama Therapy, an experiential approach to facilitating change, is an incredible tool for self-discovery, transformation, and connection. My specialty is Developmental Transformations (DvT), a drama therapy method that uses therapeutic play to unstick stuckness, navigate life’s instabilities, and rehearse new ways of being. I'd love to help you find the playfulness within the difficult and stuck parts that otherwise feel like they just can’t change. I received my MA in Drama Therapy from NYU, and completed post-graduate training in DvT at The New York Institute for Developmental Transformations (DvT-NYC). You don't need to be an actor to benefit from drama therapy. With many options for how to structure sessions, from drama to talk therapy, we will figure out together what feels comfortable enough for you to try, (with plenty of flexibility to change your mind on what feels best!)
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer gender nonconforming therapist, I especially enjoy working with queer and trans folks, and focus on queering my practice away from white supremacist and ableist systems of pathology. My goal is to create a space that feels safe enough for you to expand self-acceptance, grow in ways that are important to you, and maybe even have a laugh in the process. My approach is warm and playful, and uses our therapeutic relationship to help make sense of the other relationships in your life. It's a brave move to reach out to a new therapist. I'm excited to meet you!
