About My Clients
I primarily work with adolescents and enjoy working with couples, individuals, and families. I'm not judgy and will do my best to understand you so I can help you to the best of my ability. Do you need a bit of a push? I'm that person for you. I don't have preconceived notions regarding my clients and accept what they come with. I look forward to helping you discover what is blocking your way to living a full and healthy life.
My Background and Approach
I have much experience working with diverse individuals with many types of issues, including general bereavement and grief from the loss of a loved one due to suicide, addiction, behavioral issues, substance use, personality disorders, attachment disorders, conduct disorders, PTSD, other types of traumas, suicidality, self-harm, autism, depression, and anxiety. Previously, I worked with adolescent females in a residential facility, and with adolescents who were in the custody of the state of Utah (i.e., some of those clients had committed crimes; others were removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect). I also worked with families, couples, and clients of all ages. I believe that every person is their own expert, and I work from a strengths-based approach to assist clients in creating and living their best life. I can be highly empathetic and pushes my clients to address all areas of their core issues, which she believes to be essential to her success as a therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Communication is key, no matter the relationship. Sharing your personal beliefs can be scary, and so fulfilling. I am married with two adult daughters. My husband and I live in Northern Utah with numerous four-footed babies running around. If given the opportunity, I would read all day long and forget all about doing the daily things people need to do. I know a little bit about a lot of things and have worked in different industries to hone my philosophy of life, which is that people are inherently good. I will fight you about this. (You are always welcome to your own opinion, and you won't change mine.) I grew up in Utah and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am no longer an active member, and I still remember the songs and lessons I was taught. I will not speak badly about a community of people who are trying to do good.
