About My Clients
I provide Individual therapy for adults and teens (12+) at CARE Counseling's Woodbury location and via telehealth. Client's who may be interested in seeing me would most often be struggling with trauma, body image, self-esteem, gender dysphoria, eating disorders, anxiety, or OCD, or may just be having a really hard time coping with major life stress, such as the death of a loved one, relationship conflicts, marginalization, or identity.
My Background and Approach
I use an Integrated approach of primarily feminist, psychodynamic and existential therapies, but often pull from a variety of other lenses depending on an individual's unique circumstances. I enjoy engaging clients in Art and Music therapy techniques, and hold deep value in gaining an intimate understanding of ourselves both as individuals and how we exist in our various communities. I hold an LPCC license in Minnesota and an LPC license in Wisconsin. I hold Masters degree in Educational Psychology (Counseling Emphasis) from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. I have a clinical mental-health background in counseling, case management, assistant teaching, mentorship, and mental health stabilization support. I have also conducted research on sexual violence and presented it at the 2016 & 2017 UWRF Fall Gala, and the National Women's Conference in 2018.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am aware of the unique challenges faced by disabled, BIPOC, and LGBTQA+ individuals and have ingrained the knowledge of the impact that discrimination and prejudice has on an individual’s ability to live, heal, and grow into my practice. As a queer and disabled person, I strive to create an environment that is accommodating. While I am unable to fully comprehend the marginalization faced by BIPOC communities, I make efforts to learn, develop deeper understanding of privileges granted by my whiteness, and de-center myself in BIPOC spaces. I am an avid supporter of Black Lives Matter, Trans rights, Land Back, and Freedom for Palestine. I am knowledgeable in polyamory and kink-positive, and work under the "Health at Any Size" model. I try to advocate for my clients whenever I can, and am actively working to make Care Counseling a more accessible place for people with disabilities. I encourage exploration of political issues that affect my clients in the therapy space.
