About My Clients
The people I've worked with over the years have come to therapy to unpack difficult experiences, to work through challenges and life transitions, and to learn resources to manage distress. I've worked with adults from all different walks of life and diverse backgrounds and welcome anyone in need of support to contact me for a free consult to discuss your needs and goals. In my career I've focused on work with the LGBTQIA community, neurodivergent folks, and people recovering from trauma.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist I have an eclectic and creative approach to supporting my clients with their goals and needs. I encourage self-compassion and focusing on what brings meaning to life and what is effective rather than good/bad or right/wrong. I am a Certified Trauma Professional and much of the focus of my work has been supporting folks with understanding the role of past experiences with current distress or challenges. I am trained in different modalities of trauma care including CPT, DBT and EMDR. I also utilize body/mind approaches to give clients important tools to manage their body response to trauma reactions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer therapist and believe that disclosing this part of my identity to prospective clients is important. I've been in that position of having to navigate my identity with a new therapist and know it can be a barrier to folks seeking care. In regards to supporting my transgender and gender diverse clients with referrals, I believe in informed consent and removing gatekeeping from care. I've also been in mental health treatment and am aware of how ableism and stigma make it difficult to get help. I love animals and have been known to bring in my friendly and well-behaved dog for sessions on occasion ONLY when clients request it and when appropriate :) Please note that I am focusing my work on in-person treatment - that is the space where I find I am my best and most present self as a therapist. However, I value how telehealth has increased accessibility to therapy and am open to discussions about your specific needs in this area.
