About My Clients
I believe in the power of relationships to help my clients heal and to recover from whatever stresses they may have encountered in life. I see my role as a therapist being to help you better understand yourself and the concerns that bring you to therapy, as well as to challenge you to move forward from stuck places and continue to grow.
My Background and Approach
I have been practicing for over 16 years and have experience working with people across the lifespan in a variety of settings, including community outpatient clinics and schools. I am registered as a community provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy, which is an evidence-based treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Additionally, I carry certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional from Evergreen Certifications. While I draw from a variety of methods when providing treatment, I most often use a combination of client centered, CBT, and reality therapy approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before opening my practice with my co-owner, we felt an increasingly strong desire to incorporate intersectionality within the therapeutic space. We believe that you cannot treat a person without treating the whole person, and that all of our social stratifications (i.e., race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, etc.) do not exist separately from the other. We recognize that every challenge you have faced is a different piece of the puzzle that is you– and you can’t finish a puzzle if you’re missing pieces! As American writer, feminist, and civil rights activist Audre Lord declared, “There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.”
