About My Clients
Are you longing for a deeper sense of self, or struggling to identify or voice your own needs? Are you falling back into old patterns of thinking and behaving that derail your relationships, your life goals, or trigger diminished feelings of self-worth? Are you struggling to connect intimately with your partner and can't find the words to talk it about it without shame, anger or conflict? Are you feeling isolated or overly anxious? If so, let’s talk and create a plan that supports your healing.
My Background and Approach
I have been a social worker for over 20 years, investigating child abuse cases, providing adoption assessments, and doing inpatient psychiatric care for both adults and children/teens. As such, suicide prevention, crisis intervention and trauma are my main strengths. As a therapist, I use several clinical frameworks in order to equip my clients with tools to reprogram unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviors (CBT). I use “Parts Work” (IFS) to assess internal struggles between parts of ourselves that are in conflict and that want to be in control. Once identified, I assist my clients in empathetically “unblending” from those parts of themselves that no longer allow the authentic self to make decisions or feel peace. When working with couples, I rely on Gottman techniques to rebuild communication, trust, fondness and admiration. Lastly, I am working towards AASECT certification in Sex Therapy, and enjoy working with ENM and poly clients, and those involved in BDSM and/or kink.
