My Background and Approach
When meeting with me, you’ll share what you're struggling with. We'll identify your specific needs and goals, and things will move at a pace that you and I agree on. Which is not to say you’ll never feel challenged or uncomfortable--often that’s an important piece of treatment--but I'll always check in with you first. Together, we will explore your history, your emotions, your thoughts, and the things you do (or avoid doing) that keep you stuck. Most importantly, with support, guidance, and compassion, you’ll gain perspective, learn new skills, and practice new behaviors that improve your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the healing power of offering empathy, unconditional acceptance, and compassion. With those elements as the foundation of our relationship, self-awareness and behavior change are possible. In our work together, my goal is to help you become your best self--whatever that means to you. A lot of pain in life is inevitable and unavoidable. When we put a lot of effort into avoiding or getting rid of this pain, we can miss out on important things and even make our life worse. I believe that you can have a bad childhood and learn to live a good life. I believe that you didn't cause your problems, and you still need to solve them, with a bit of help. I know these things from my own experience and from working with many people who were struggling. I want you to experience freedom and vitality, even on the bad days.
