Mindfulness meditation is an evidence-based practice which can lead to improvements in a variety of both mental and physical health conditions. Preoccupation with the past or future can create a lot of distress. I work with clients around learning to pause, practice presence and notice what is going on within themselves as well as in their environment, without making judgment.

Through cognitive behavioral therapy, I help clients to draw connection between trigger events, thoughts and feelings. Awareness of these connections allows us to recognize distorted thought patterns that we may be prone to based on prior experiences or negative beliefs about ourselves. Once we recognize these thought patterns, we can learn to modify or create distance from them. CBT is an evidence-based practice for many conditions, including anxiety, depression and insomnia.

I have extensive experience working with clients with anxiety and related disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive DIsorder (OCD) and other phobias. Anxiety can take many forms including frequent worrying, rumination, obsessive thinking or physical symptoms. I utilize a variety of approaches including mindfulness techniques, CBT, psychodynamic psychotherapy and compassion-focused therapy to work with clients experiencing anxiety.

Do you struggle with low self-esteem, self-worth or confidence? Does this cause you to make choices against your own self-interest, or ignore your needs? I help clients to identify both the impact of self-esteem on various realms of their lives, and the origins for low self-worth in prior experiences or relationships. We will focus on identifying negative thought patterns that reinforce low self-worth, and gradually learning to hold deeper compassion for yourself.

Adjusting to a new role can be tough, and becoming a parent is one of the most complex identity transformations that we go through in life. Transitioning to parenthood can impact your relationships, sense of self and overall mental wellbeing. Having support during this challenging time can be extremely helpful in dealing with the complicated emotions that can arise after the birth of a child. I am trained in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PSI).

Holistic therapy takes a more integrative approach to mental healthcare. Instead of focusing on just one part of the person or problem, I look at the bigger picture of factors impacting your mind, body and spirit. The purpose of holistic therapy is to understand the root cause of your distress, and then work to treat it from several different angles. This approach will allow you to achieve meaningful and long-lasting change, rather than to create a band-aid or temporary solution.
