About My Clients

I work with clients struggling with anxiety, trauma, grief, difficult life transitions and pregnancy/postpartum and parenting challenges. Many of my clients are women who are juggling caring for their children, maintaining or finding their career path, sustaining a healthy relationship, and meeting their own needs. I also support individuals who are struggling with challenges in becoming parents - birth trauma, perinatal mood disorders, pregnancy and infant loss, or fertility issues.

My Background and Approach

While I tailor interventions to fit the individual needs of each client, I draw from the following therapeutic approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, self-compassion, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), and Internal Family Systems (IFS, "parts" work). I integrate both "top-down" (looking at how thoughts influence our feelings and behaviours), "bottom-up" (attuning to our bodies to learn more about our emotional experiences), and brain-based (EMDR) approaches to help provide clients with a variety of tools, and a new perspective on their relationship to their thoughts and feelings. Our work together may focus on issues that you are currently struggling with, and may delve further back into your history to understand how your past experience shows up in your present life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that you have the capacity to heal yourself. Psychotherapy provides the empathic space and the concrete tools for you to discover your path to wellness. You are the expert on your own life. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that honours your wisdom and experience. As a mental health professional, I am committed to inclusion, equity, social justice, LGBTQII2A rights, #blacklivesmatter and #indigenouslivesmatter. I acknowledge that I am a settler, living and working on Indigenous lands. The territory of Tkaronto includes the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe, and the Wendat. I acknowledge them and any other Nations who care for the land as the past, present and future caretakers of this land. I recognize that I simultaneously participate in and benefit from a system of ongoing colonial oppression, and that I have a responsibility to challenge this whenever possible.
