My Background and Approach
In my graduate work I conducted research on the Latino population along with LGBTQ specific issues. Therapy is about empowerment and hope, life can be difficult and it is sometimes hard to make that first step toward change. My goal is to partner to cultivate a hopeful and empowered perspective on life for all people. I use mindful living and creative techniques to assist in the healing process. It is important to learn how to live in the moment, much of our lives are lived in the past or in the future, and there are typically blocks that keep people in that state of future/past talk. Let's work together and navigate the preset. I use an eclectic approach to therapy that utilizes expressive arts as well as traditional CBT, DBT , Motivational Interviewing and ACT Therapies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being Bilingual and Bicultural as well as the daughter of an immigrant provides me with a unique vantage point to be able to join with my clients in different ways. I find that the experience of people who are members of that second generation hold on to that baggage of needing to prove that they are American enough as well as being tied enough to their home culture.
