About My Clients
Being overwhelmed by which direction you should take can be complicated and isolating. Difficulties in life can lead to feelings of uncertainty about your abilities and a loss of connection to who you are. Therapy can be an excellent tool to navigate these feelings in a safe and supportive environment. Having worked through my own issues of trauma, self-doubt, and grief, I know this journey well. I feel honored to work in collaboration with clients on finding their best path forward.
My Background and Approach
I can identify and empathize deeply with those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, as well as identity and life transitions. I also take great care in working with children, adolescents, and their parents through these types of issues. During our first sessions, we will explore the history of ongoing issues and where they started at the client's pace. After establishing trust between each other, we will create a plan to help manage and reduce symptoms to take your life on the path that you envision. I often employ techniques from ACT and CBT, as well as integrating techniques from other cognitive theories to assist clients in finding ways to manage symptoms and determine what drives them day-to-day. In addition, I lean on ideas from existential, multicultural, and feminist theories to get to understand the client's unique background in order to serve them while recognizing the social barriers that may play a part in their daily lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that anyone has the capacity to change at any point in their lives. As someone who has experienced my own trauma, depression, anxiety and coming to terms with my gender and sexual identity, I can deeply empathize with clients who are processing their own experiences related to these issues. I stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, feminist movements, racial justice, and firmly believe in bodily and personal autonomy above all.
