About My Clients
I am a Washington state approved supervisor for interns and therapist associates working toward licensure. I am proficient in CBT+ for trauma, depression, and anxiety. I am competent in ecopsychology / nature therapy and nutrition. I am very familiar with the healing potentials of psychedelics in conjunction with talk therapy. I am a part of the LGBTQ+ community and that populations hold a special place in my heart.
My Background and Approach
I obtained my BS in health psychology at Bastyr University in Seattle - a natural medicine school that trained in complementary and alternative approaches to mental health. I completed a research track and studied nature's healing capacities. Additionally, I learned how one's diet can profoundly affect mental health. At Bastyr, I completed a yearlong practicum at Wilderness Awareness school, further integrating my ecopsychology training. I obtained my MA at Antioch University Seattle where I trained to become a marriage and family therapist. At Antioch I completed a 15 monthlong internship in Cascade Community Healthcare's child and adolescent program. I was hired by Cascade and worked as a family and child therapist for 7 years. I then transferred to Cascade's WISe program and became the manager and clinical supervisor for WISe for 5 years. I currently work in private practice and a small group practice where I provide clinical supervision and hold a small caseload.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an open-minded, proactive gay therapist. I believe that pharmaceuticals and talk therapy are not the best approach to mental health for many people. Ecopsychology, somatic experiencing, and psychedelic assisted therapies are my true passion. It is my belief that the climate crisis and dwindling resources are one of the root causes of mental distress in our current world. Providing therapy to people so they can get just healthy enough to function in our materialist society seems counterproductive in our current society. I hope to work with people in a manner that challenges currently believe models of what success and fulfillment really is. My goal is to help people out of mere survival mode and help them achieve their true potential.
