About My Clients
I enjoy helping people work through shame, anxiety, burn out, trauma, and identity issues. I assist clients who desire a greater sense of safety and stability in their lives. My work with clients tends to involve helping them get a better understanding of their own emotions, wants, and needs and how to effectively communicate those. We focus on developing self-compassion and trust. Clients often express that rapport flows naturally since I take a multi-cultural, anti-oppression approach.
My Background and Approach
I use a holistic approach pulling from different modalities of treatment (DBT, CBT, ACT, ERP, Gottman, person-centered, etc.) as well as lived experience. I have worked with adolescents and adults in mental health services for about 7 years in a variety of settings (crisis, residential, outpatient, IOP, non-profit, private practice). Clients describe me as candid, humorous, warm, articulate, and knowledgeable.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer, nonbinary, and neuro-divergent human with lived experience in non-monogamy. I am also the child of an immigrant and a first generation college graduate. I believe therapy and trauma are inherently political and cultural, given the impact of systemic oppression and the cyclical nature of trauma. I place an emphasis on multi-cultural competence, diversity, social justice, and advocacy. Our human need for connection is universal across culture, and I help folks learn how to connect more with their own humanness as well as the humanity of others.
