About My Clients

Many of my clients struggle with the ways that harmful systems, messages, and events have deeply impacted their ability to find meaning. They might be struggling with anxiety or shame, and finding it difficult to separate their understanding of self from that. In my practice I hold space for your own personal dialectics, to examine and name the parts of you which may be ostracized, belittled, or pathologized by others, but which at their heart are joyful, affirming, and even life-giving.

My Background and Approach

As a queer person, I'm passionate about work with the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and OCD. My framework is informed by postmodern, anti-racist, and narrative principles. I have experience working with religious trauma, and affirmative treatment for queer people of faith. I consider you the expert in your story, and I am here to travel with you as you gain the strength and courage to examine and confront the issues that have brought you to therapy. You will not be alone in this journey, and I will offer reflection and feedback where appropriate, based on the relationship that we build together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone has the ability (and the right) to change. I believe my queerness is integral to who I am as a person, and a therapist! I am a person of faith, and understand my spiritual beliefs as inextricable from my social justice framework. That being said, I am no stranger to religious trauma and the damages caused to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, particularly by the (currently) dominant understanding of Christianity. It is my honor to hold space for those wishing to unravel the threads that connect them to harmful religious rhetoric. Interests include: driving my Subaru into the mountains with my wife and my dog (did I mention I was queer?), writing, recording, performing music, playing video games (Animal Crossing, Zelda) and geeking out over a plethora of other nerdy fandoms (Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death, Heartstopper, to name a few).
