About My Clients

Life can be overwhelming at times and you may feel anxious, depressed, stuck, angry, lost. Maybe you feel like you can't move freely without fear. Maybe you feel misunderstood in relationships. Therapy can feel scary - it's hard to be open with another person and to experience emotions and sensations that feel painful. I hope to create a safe space for you to explore different aspects of yourself - thoughts, emotions, physical sensations - to increase self-compassion and insight.

My Background and Approach

There are many ways to create growth, vibrancy, and peace in your life. I integrate several orientations including Reichian somatic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, Gestalt therapy, trauma-informed care, and humanistic methods. I emphasize attention to the present moment so that you can really connect with yourself and make adjustments as needed. My style is thoughtful, humorous, and down-to-earth, and we'll explore your experiences gently. You have an innate drive towards wholeness and well-being, and a therapeutic relationship that is accepting, creative, and curious can support this process. I take a collaborative approach towards counseling, blending techniques to best serve each person and welcoming feedback to increase trust and safety.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth and to make real contact with life and others. Sometimes the things we do to protect ourselves get in the way of true contact. I have spent many years learning to be truly present and accepting of myself and my experiences, and I hope to support you in a similar process. I also believe that each person is the expert in their own life, and I want to help others understand and honor their own needs and wants. Each person strives for some sort of authentic expression, it looks different for everyone, and space is needed for that expression. In my free time, I enjoy urban hikes, hanging with my two cats, volunteering at a farm sanctuary, live music, and karaoke. I really strive to reduce the amount of harm caused to other beings and the planet as much as possible. Prior to starting my journey in mental health care, I worked in a lot of retail settings, as a sociopolitical campaign advocate, and at a movie theater.
