About My Clients
If you are a curious individual or couple looking to learn more about yourself or needing a safe place or person with whom to share your deepest pains and joys, sorrows and hopes, hobbies and uncertainties, then you've come to the right place. Clients who work with me come from all backgrounds, beliefs, life stages, and identities, especially those still being worked out. What all my clients have in common is their bravery and yearning to feel more themselves than when they entered therapy.
My Background and Approach
My work with you begins with the premise that therapy isn't meant to last forever, and we want to get you feeling good enough to be able to trek your everyday life without a therapist. Too many of us, especially the most marginalized, get stuck depending on the provisions of an individualized and unjust mental healthcare system, leaving us needing more care, paying more money, and lacking the trust to meet our needs and build relationships. While therapy is part of some people's healing journey, it may not be for everyone and should not be forever. In our work together, I hope we encounter your deepest parts with gentleness, honesty, integrity, and playfulness. I will take great care to know the pain you feel, the troubles you face, the things you love, and the support you seek. I will follow your lead as we engage with your life on your terms. And I am always interested in how the dynamics we discuss in your life outside therapy may also show up in our work together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before starting our work, I want to tell you about my intersectional identities. I identify as LGBTQ+, and I am also white, American, working-class, formally educated, and able-bodied. My social privilege influences the connection we will make due to the complex and intersecting identities we each hold. Please know that I intend to focus on you and your work during our sessions and commit to doing my work outside our sessions to maintain this ethic of integrity, both in my counseling practice and when I leave my office at the end of the day.
