About My Clients
My varied background in mental health counseling includes work with individuals, couples and families including older children through late adulthood. I consider myself competent to work with a wide array of clients and pride myself on being culturally-informed, queer-informed, body-positive informed, and highly attuned to social justice / cultural oppression issues.
My Background and Approach
Just a little bit about me. I studied Microbiology in Lagos, Nigeria and graduated with my Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) before immigrating to the United States. Here, I completed my Master of Arts Degree (M.A.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. I am currently credentialed in Illinois as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My preferred counseling approach combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Pastoral Counseling, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I provide teletherapy services for Generations and Home Psych Services using secure video teleconferencing technology for the comfort, convenience, added privacy and safety of my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in tapping into the unique strengths and capabilities of the clients I work with – helping them unlock their own innate potential to overcome the challenges they might be facing. I have a passion for helping others live fulfilled lives. My life experience has taught me that everyone has internal value and a natural desire to contribute it to humanity. I enjoy helping my clients gain self-awareness, understanding, and gaining a “big picture” viewpoint of their presenting problems to make the most healthy and holistic decisions for themselves and their lives.
