About My Clients
My expertise revolves around individuals, couples, and families in which one or many participants experience big emotions. When a person's emotions "run away" with them, often there are behaviors that we engage with in order to communicate our needs - and even if it works, those behaviors can end up creating additional issues, particularly with those that we care about. I am here to encourage both acceptance of where you are, and change towards a more balanced and effective mindset, and life.
My Background and Approach
One of the most powerful gifts we can offer ourselves is movement: towards wholeness, balance, and equanimity. This looks different for everyone, whether it is attending therapy for the first time, deepening our self-exploration, or engaging effectively with loved ones. I have extensive training in comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and believe in everyone's capacity to nurture acceptance and create change for themselves. I offer an eclectic practice that also draws on principals of CBT, mindfulness, self-compassion, relational and systemic perspective, and collaboration with every client, in the pursuit of their most complete self. In session, I strive to blend the principles of evidence-based treatments with an emotion-focused approach rooted in equity, compassion, and respect for each individual’s unique life experience. I am grateful to join clients as a co-navigator and co-learner on their path towards improved mindset, relationships, and well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to fostering an environment grounded in equity, advocacy, and affirmation. As a multiracial woman of color, I am well familiar with the important roles that visibility and community play in a person's wellbeing. I am proud to offer support and allyship to the LGBTQIA+ community as well as the ENM/kink community. I enjoy volunteering with the Sierra Club and believe strongly that our continual relationship with nature can nourish both body and spirit.
