I help young adults, men, and trans* folks who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, and identity.
My Background and Approach
Therapy is the process of expressing your perspective, your emotions, your needs in the compassionate witnessing of another helps you to heal hidden parts of yourself, to gain new awareness and to begin to make big changes in your life, starting with small steps each day. In this relationship you can expect: Space to discuss whatever is in your mind and on your heart A therapist who will see your inherent strengths and positive intentions and reflect those back for you to see An environment of nonjudgement and acceptance for who you are Guidance to explore core beliefs, repetitive feelings and scenarios where you are stuck Room to feel and express your feelings: to cry, to rage, to laugh Tools to help you develop or deepen a sense of inherent safety and connection to yourself I'm trained in EMDR, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, contemplative psychotherapy, and play therapies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My Journey: For 21 years, I lived the life that was expected of me. I went to the “right” school, took the “right” jobs, went to the “right” church and acted the way I knew I needed to in order to maintain the safety, security and acceptance of my family and community. There was a part of me that was dying to break out, to speak what was true for me, and to live my most authentic expression. My own life journey has been an ever-evolving path exploring identity, self-expression, personal truth and spirituality and the ways these impact the relationships I cherish and the ways I live a life of purpose. In the process, I discovered the deep sense of peace and congruence that comes from living authentically and cultivating compassion. I hope to share some of that peace with you in the healing and empowering environment of an accepting, genuine therapeutic relationship.
