About My Clients
Whatever you have done to survive was exactly right and was necessary for your survival. We will honor and value those techniques, including eating disorders, self-harm, and suicidal thinking, and we will work to understand why you used those techniques. We’ll use that knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions about whether to continue to use those same techniques, or whether to add additional tools to your toolbox to use. I also work with families and write letters.
My Background and Approach
I received my master’s in social work – with internships at Carolina Partners (now MindPath) providing free outpatient therapy for trans adults, and Carolina House Center for Eating Disorder Treatment – and my BA in public policy and women and gender studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I worked at Carolina House for an additional year at Residential, PHP, and IOP levels of care. I then moved to Center for Discovery (CFD) where I worked as a primary therapist at the residential treatment program in McLean, VA. I continue to work at CFD as a Coordinator for Gender Affirmative Care. You are the expert on your own life. By working collaboratively, we can determine what therapeutic modalities and directions will help you achieve your goals. I have particular fondness for DBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). I strive to be anti-racist, anti-sizeism, and anti-oppression in all forms.
