About My Clients
We may not be responsible for the things that have happened to us, but there is freedom in accepting the fact that we are responsible for how we interact with ourselves, with others, and with the world. Temperamental, familial and societal factors shape us, some for the better and others make life more difficult. It is with these things that I most hope to help my clients explore so that they may live more decisively.
My Background and Approach
My undergraduate education was at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where I studied English literature and psychology. I received my master’s degree from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis in the field of mental health counseling. I am also working towards my doctoral degree in psychoanalysis from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. I have been in my own analysis for the past three years. Prior to that, I received therapy from a Jungian psychoanalyst and a humanistic (Rogerian) therapist. I have experience both giving and receiving multiple different modalities of therapy. I believe it is important for a therapist to understand both sides of the relationship. A therapist can only take you as far as they themselves have gone.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you should come to therapy exactly as you are. I have many years experience working with neurodivergent and differently abled populations. I also haved worked for various state funded organizations (i.e. schools, community mental health centers, social work settings). I take pride in working effectively with challenging populations. I specialize in working with individuals with schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions, individuals with personality disorders, children and adults with complex trauma, men’s issues, and working with couples and families. I have a special interest in working with people suffering from anger, shame, feelings of hatred and guilt. I also have lived and worked in Colombia and believe cultural and individual differences are to be celebrated and explored.
