About My Clients
Maybe you're feeling down and have a hard time keeping up with all the things, or find it hard to get out of bed at all. Sometimes you might feel overwhelmingly anxious, worried about the future, or tense. Or maybe there is trauma from you past or something you are living through now and you just need help to find a better way through it. I have the tools to help us navigate these issues and find your unique path to a greater sense of peace and hope.
My Background and Approach
Since 2014 I've been perfecting my skills and growing my metaphorical "box of tools" to help people through difficult times in life. As a trauma focused therapist, I give the client a lot of control over what, how, and when we talk about things. The first priority of therapy though is stabilizing - that means making sure you have to tools you need to cope, meet you basic needs and responsibilities, and increase control over emotions. Then we slowly start to go deeper with the goal of getting to the root of what has brought up these difficulties for you. Rather than immediately diving into the deep stuff, we "work the edges" of the difficult experiences and overtime we ease our way into the deeper wounds at a pace that feels safe. I have many different tools to help you heal from these deeper wounds so the emotions that come up out of them don't have to control your life forever. I've seen many client find peace in their lives with the tools and approaches I've learned.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe healing and growth is possible for everyone and anyone who wants to begin that journey should have access to the tools and resources they need. I believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have. I believe all behaviors (whether beneficial or maladaptive) make sense when we look into the origins. I don't discriminate against anyone, and I have enjoyed working with and found a deep respect for people of many backgrounds, from civilian to veteran, straight or LGBTQ, democrat or republican, Christian, Athiest, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, or Wiccan, Black, White, Native, Asian, Latinx, or mixed. I believe we are all flying through space at 448k mph on this space ship called earth, and we have to learn to share it and begin respecting one another as our fellow ship mates. I believe dogs are better than cats (but I'm working to unpack my judgements against cats), vegan food can be delicious, and that diy project is more valuable than the high end version.
