Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Chicago, IL

About My Clients

I am passionate about helping my clients find strength after experiencing adversity, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and meet their goals for personal growth. In this exploration, I find it important to highlight how culture and our society impact us and what we need in therapy. I strive to create a safe space for my clients' identities to be fully explored and deeply understood. In sessions, I focus on empowerment, self-discovery, and supportive feedback.

My Background and Approach

I provide individual and couples therapy with a multicultural, client-centered, relational, and psychodynamic approach. I have my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Chicago and undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Religion. While at Loyola, I completed a 1000-hour internship at Haymarket Center providing individual and group therapy for adults with substance abuse; I then went on to work at Haymarket Center full-time before transitioning to private practice therapy. I also completed an internship with Synergy Services where I was an advocate and case manager for homeless youth. I am a certified Rape Crisis Counselor and volunteer medical advocate with Resilience. I have received additional training on trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA+ clients, anti-racism, human trafficking, sex work, group therapy, domestic violence, HIV & Hepatitis C, and childhood sexual abuse.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that all people have the strength to grow and change within them and all people are worthy of the opportunity to do so; my job as a therapist is to be a guide for you along the way! Our personal histories and backgrounds in many ways shape who we are, but these things do not have control over who we can become. Anything that we learned along the way can be unlearned and replaced with healthier beliefs and behaviors. I've seen myself transform in many ways through my own therapy so I know this to be possible. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and passionate about advocacy and volunteering. I am a proud supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and strongly believe in the importance of reparations, abolishing the police, and reforming our criminal legal system. Since losing my mother to pancreatic cancer in 2015, I fundraise for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network each year (and run their 5K each spring). I am also passionate about suicide prevention.
