About My Clients
I have worked with adults for over ten years, treating a range of presenting issues from depression to anxiety to substance abuse and more. Many of my clients tend to seek therapy for unresolved behavioral patterns that have become burdensome and stressful. My specialty is bringing awareness into the body, finding deeper understanding as to why behaviors formed, paying loving kindness to these wounded parts of ourselves and then working toward change.
My Background and Approach
My general approach to psychotherapy is to slow down and pay attention to behavioral patterns and decide if attention and change need to be either given or made. This may sound simple, however, the process can be very challenging to implement without having a guide. I believe that our unconscious minds have given us both gifts and challenges to deal with. Deep-rooted patterns are formed from these emotional experiences, almost like muscle memory, and thus most of us go about our lives not understanding what changes need to be made and how to go about implementing them. If you choose to start a therapeutic relationship with me, I am confident that there will be a way to make a change in your life. Using either talk psychotherapy, art psychotherapy, or a combination of both we will together go on a journey of discovery, guiding you closer to the emotional space you want to live in.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, it is not only for people feeling severely distressed. We all deserve to live our best lives. I am passionate about primary attachments and how early development with our caregivers shaped much of who we are today. I believe that if we better understand how we developmentally grew up and learned to cope with the often times harsh world around us, we will become more attuned to what needs to change and how it can change. The hope is that this new understanding of self will lead to healing and greater enjoyment in life.
