About My Clients
For many of us, navigating intimacy and seeking purpose can bring up the legacies of shame, estrangement, and trauma, and make us feel anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, or empty — especially in a time of increasing uncertainty, injustice, and institutional failures. But queer people are also highly adaptive and resilient. I help my clients build on this strength so they can brave tough moments, heal old wounds, and find a greater sense of authenticity, connectedness and trust in themselves.
My Background and Approach
I’m trained in AEDP and the Hakomi Method, which are experiential therapies. That means that in addition to narrating and intellectually exploring what’s on your mind or what happened in your week, we’re also going to take notice of what’s happening in the moment for you and between us. You’ll often hear me invite you to slow down to notice what’s happening in your body and bringing mindful awareness to the present moment experience. I do this because it’s the fastest way I know how to help you get underneath the familiar stories you tell yourself and get to the heart of what you’ve been struggling with. We can’t always rationalize our way out of what we’re dealing with, and that present moment experience can bring to the fore some old hurts that we may be carrying and give us an opportunity to heal them and move forward. That’s really the goal of this work: to help you identify what might be standing in your way, what’s no longer serving you, and access your innate resiliency.
