About My Clients
The lovely and brave folks I get to see often reach out because they feel they are stuck reliving experiences of stress, trauma and oppression. Many feel angry, anxious, upset, overwhelmed, and isolated. They want genuine and trustworthy support. We can work together to process the pain you have been through, to better understand and break down the patterns you've learned to survive in a compassionate and nonjudgmental way, and to discover new ways of creating the life you want moving forward.
My Background and Approach
In our work, we'll both learn more about you, nurture a meaningful and trusting relationship, and discover together what you need to heal and thrive. I do not limit us to any single approach. As a psychologist specialized in stress and trauma I developed fluency in a number of evidence-based approaches so that we can create a tailored treatment that works for you personally. Some folks feel safe and supported to heal and grow when they have structure and predictability. They want concrete tools they can use to stop panic attacks or better communicate boundaries. Others feel safer and more empowered when they can set their pace moment-by-moment. Some folks feel they are living as a reaction to trauma and stress, and therefore living a story written for them by other people. They want to adjust and/or break free of messages and patterns. I approach care with deep respect and care for those I work with. I look forward to you and I creating a treatment together that best fits your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I sincerely believe that each of us can heal, grow and live more fully through care and support. I believe in the power of our shared humanity, emotions, art and fiction. That we all deserve compassion, kindness and quality health care. I believe in actively working for human rights, better care and greater compassion. That great mental health care can empower and liberate people. And people brave enough to heal themselves can heal the world. I believe in rest and health as resistance to productivity and hustle culture. That being human is beautiful. I believe in the power of emotionally vulnerable conversations, being truly heard, and a great cup of chai. I believe that people I work with are courageous and lovely, that healing work is hard and beautiful, and that each of us has worth. In my personal life I've been breaking cycles of trauma, supporting women seeking education, rescuing dogs and volunteering to increase access to care for veterans and folks in BIPOC/LGBTQ communities.
