About My Clients
I work with queer and trans teens, adults and couples seeking to uncover their voice, explore deeper who they are, and regain their sense of self from past hurt and trauma. I support people through their deeper work on healing from trauma, the coming out journey, sex and sexuality, self-identity, relationship issues, family conflict, cultural issues, and changing relationship structures (ENM, polyamory, etc.).
My Background and Approach
My professional career has focused on supporting teens and adults after interpersonal violence including intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood neglect and abuse, and human trafficking. I also work with people who have caused harm interpersonally and seek to change those behavior patterns. I utilize a holistic lens, looking at the connection between the body, mind and spirit. Neurobiology and attachment theory are infused throughout my practice. I use an eclectic approach of modalities including cognitive-behavioral, meditation, writing, psychodrama, laughter, somatic, dance and internal family systems. I also use a lot of metaphors, dad jokes, and queer cultural references. Joy and connection should be just as important to the therapeutic space.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Personal growth is an on-going process. I consider myself a recovering perfectionist and seek to treat everyone, myself included, with compassion. I continue to undo my own racial socialization and work to decolonize my mind and my therapy practice. I am non-binary, queer, artistic, open-hearted, and view mental health through a social justice lens. There is no therapist who is the right fit for everyone. I will support you to find another therapist for a specific modality I'm not trained in, a fresh perspective, or a better fit. I want to be the best support to everyone who chooses to be in therapeutic relationship with me.
