Who are you? What do you believe/stand for/value? Internal distress can arise when we are searching for answers to these questions. Major life transitions, stress, and trauma can also cause shifts in what we believe and value. While this is a natural part of life, it can be unsettling. Working through these challenging what ifs can help increase self esteem and internal peace.

Relationships are hard! I help my clients create and implement boundaries as well as develop skills around communication and emotional expression to find deeper connection (or healthy separation) with their family, friends, and co-workers.

For many of us, sexuality is wrapped up in shame, guilt, anxiety, insecurities, and/or trauma. Our sexuality is first and foremost our own and we have the choice to invite others into it when and how we want to. Jayden helps individuals reclaim and own their sexuality by exploring past relationships, boundaries, or lack thereof, as well as narratives surrounding our bodies. Her goal is to help you reconnect to yourself and find confidence and security in your body.

Narrative therapy is a form of counseling that views people as separate from their problems and destructive behaviors. This allows clients to get some distance from the difficulties they face. With this perspective, individuals feel more empowered to make changes in their thought patterns and behavior and “rewrite” their life story for a future that reflects who they really are, what they are capable of, and what their purpose is, separate from their problems.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts by interrogating and uprooting negative or irrational beliefs. Considered a "solutions-oriented" form of talk therapy, CBT rests on the idea that thoughts and perceptions influence behavior. Feeling distressed, in some cases, may distort one’s perception of reality.

Person-centered therapy, also known as Rogerian therapy or client-based therapy, employs a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions. The approach originated in the work of American psychologist Carl Rogers, who believed that every person is unique and, therefore, everyone’s view of his or her own world, and their ability to manage it, should be trusted.

As children we create attachments with our caregivers and these attachments serve as a baseline for our future relationships. While some people were able to create secure attachments with caregivers earlier on, some of us have insecure or anxious or avoidant attachments not only with family members but with friends, coworkers, and romantic partners, making relationships challenging and oftentimes painful.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an approach to psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities or families within each person’s mental system. These sub-personalities consist of wounded parts and painful emotions such as anger and shame, and parts that try to control and protect the person from the pain of the wounded parts. The sub-personalities are often in conflict with each other and with one’s core Self, a concept that describes the whole person.
