About My Clients
You are so overwhelmed that you are "frozen" and can't stop procrastinating. Whenever you think you'll remember something, you don't. No one understands how hard it is for you to try and deal with your depression and your difficulties with organization. If people only knew all the traumatic stuff you've been through. It's definitely hard to explain to others what is going inside and it would be great if somewhere out there, there is someone who's lived it AND has professional knowledge.
My Background and Approach
I am a bilingual counseling psychologist who also studied industrial/organizational psychology and clinical and health psychology. I do testing for ADHD/Autism or for diagnostic clarification and provide coaching. Mood disorders, neurodivergence, trauma, and co-occurring disorders are my expertise. I use a mix of evidence based treatments mostly based on cognitive behavioral principles to manage automatic negative thoughts and their effects. I look at family of origin history and patterns of behavior too. All interventions are based on you as an individual, are evidence based, and are used to create a treatment plan for your particular needs. Any intervention is meant to reduce symptoms that interfere with your everyday life and to empower you. We will tackle the thoughts that create distress and learn how to change them so that you can lead a happier and more fulfilling life. I'm hoping to be a guide "through the fog" with my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a kid I understood that there were ways to try and "decipher" adult behavior. Through my own family of origin story, I came up with ways to try to understand some of the more difficult periods of my life. This led me to hyper focus on psychology which greatly helped me understand human behavior/emotions and therefore make life a bit easier. Now I try to teach others how to see their lives through different lenses so that with compassion they can begin healing. When we consider our environment and culture, it's easy to see why we have developed a myriad of disorders, our mind desperately trying to adjust to so many different stressors and tasks. As a therapist and person, I believe we are all people of value and have the right to choose our own destiny. In my eyes we are all weathering the same storm but in different boats. I'm here to listen and guide, not judge. I certainly don't know everything, but I can try and help you figure out what you need to know.
