I view therapy through this lens as if we are on a road trip and you're the driver. I'm in the passenger seat just pointing out things along the way and allowing you to decide if we detour in that direction.

I feel that my clients know themselves best and therapy is a collaborative experience with two or more humans involved. I want the best for each client and for them to realize their potential of the best version of themselves.

I believe that EMDR is very effective in treatment big T and little t traumas when the client is ready to address them and feel prepared to do so. The way to view EMDR is as if the trauma is an open browser tab and every time your sympathetic nervous system reminds you of it, you have a physiological and emotional charged reaction. Through reprocessing you remove the emotional reactivity of the trauma and it gets filed away so it is no longer activated.

Dissociation majority of the time is viewed as a "maladaptive" behavior and I don't see if this way. At one point when you developed this ability it was protective and helped you manage life. Now it could possibly be getting in the way of you living your life to your fullest or ignoring the work you logically know you want to work on.

Attachment is usually at the core of most of our concerns that bring us in to therapy. There's a reason for this, during the first 1000 days of our lives we are supposed to learn emotional regulation, attunement, and feel connected through our caregivers. If this does not go as it should it can lead to a myriad of conflicts.

I'm a huge advocate for the neurospicy community. Most people don't know that ADHD is one disorder that if one 1st degree relative who has it you have a 75% chance of also having it. Also the fact that majority of the assessments used currently were normed on white males completely disregards experiences of everyone else. Let's not forget that the DSM loves to leave out the emotional regulation components of ADHD on diagnosis criteria.
