About My Clients
I work with couples and individuals ages 25+; I especially enjoy working with the more *seasoned* adult population (65YO+)! Using a culturally sensitive and holistic approach, I draw from several treatment modalities to work with those struggling with a variety of issues (complex PTSD; depression; anxiety; grief; financial hardship; chronic illness; caregiver fatigue; relationship or parenting challenges; career difficulties; racial/religious trauma, and life transitions).
My Background and Approach
I spent more than 20 years working in Corporate America until I finally decided to go in the direction my heart was leading. Social work felt like the vocation I'd been looking for, and then I found my true calling as a therapist. I believe the client-therapist relationship is the most important factor in therapy's effectiveness, and because each person has unique needs, we'll partner together to create a plan that empowers you to attain your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When I say "no judgement here", I mean it. As a social worker, I follow our ethical standard of holding our clients in unconditional positive regard. As a Christian, I'll quote Billy Graham: "It's God's job to judge, the Holy Spirit's job to convict, and my job to love." And as a therapist, I believe it's so brave when a person decides to be totally vulnerable in therapy, and I am always in awe when someone chooses to tell me things they would never want anyone else to know. While I may not make the same choices as another person, I seek to uncover the underlying factors that contributes to making those choices. Once we have a better understanding, clients are then able to decide to either continue the behavior or make some changes for a different/better outcome.
