About My Clients

I am primarily trained in working with individuals who experience depression, trauma, anxiety, grief, mood disorders, interpersonal conflicts, and big or small life transitions. I have extensive history in HIV social work and community mental health, as well as private practice settings.

My Background and Approach

I help provide tools to transform and enhance your relationship with emotions and thoughts. We often put pressure on ourselves to totally avoid uncomfortable feelings and thoughts, and it is most liberating when we can instead learn to have control over how we process the experiences that come with being human. I regularly utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy interventions in order to begin fostering curiosity and non-judgement into thought and feeling patterns. I also engage in psychodynamic processing in order to provide insights into current behaviors and relationship patterns. In so many ways, our most foundational years (and relationships!) occur in childhood and early adolescence-- processing, healing from, celebrating, and honoring those years and experiences are essential to creating a strong sense of self that is founded on grace and love.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Our full selves show up in the therapy space-- you and me both! Because of that, I feel that you deserve to know a bit about me and my beliefs. I actively work to be anti-racist, both in community organizing and in personal relationships. I specialize in gender-affirming therapeutic care for transgender, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ adults. I am poly-affirming and sex positive. My practice is never about promoting anti-fat ideals and always centers body positivity and liberation in conversations about body image and health. Social work is personal and it is also political. Our identities are personal and also political. When we take space to grow and heal and explore in therapy, it is helpful and necessary to examine and understand the societal systems that impact our own thoughts and experiences. As a therapist, I feel that it is not only my role to provide space to do this in sessions, but it is my role to advocate and organize for equity and justice in our community.
