About My Clients
Have you felt like giving up on trying? Do you feel like you're beyond help and that there is no hope people will understand your struggles? I frequently find myself sitting across the room from people who are at their wit's end, but really don't know where else to turn. They know they need help but are skeptical. While I can't guarantee to change your life for you, I can guarantee that I will stand by your side with compassion and challenge you to keep trying until we find something that works.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master's in Mental Health Counseling in 2014. Even before pursuing my Master's degree in counseling, I spent much of my time learning and attempting to understand our human experiences surrounding suffering. I believe in creating highly supportive environments that help others see that they are not alone in dealing with their darkness. We need people to sit in those dark, scary places with us in order to understand them more and to create meaningful, sustainable changes in our lives. I spent several years working predominately with children and families. Those experiences have made me an intense advocate for those who are being mistreated by the systems surrounding them. I have also worked in a corporate health care setting for the past three years. My recent experiences have taught me that everyone has areas of their lives that could benefit from improvement.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer in my client being the expert on their life and experiences. We both bring expertise to the counseling experience that allows us to become co-travelers on an expedition to further understanding and to create an individual's best life. I am a strong advocate for the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities.
