About My Clients
Sessions with me will always start with establishing a trusting client-provider relationship. For every encounter my greatest goal is to foster a sense of connectedness, a non-judgmental environment of belonging, empathy, mutual trust and respect. I am on this journey with my clients and will maintain a mindful presence in every session. I am a strong supporter of self-advocacy and the client’s right to guide their mental healthcare, providing them with tools gained by my professional expertise.
My Background and Approach
I have a 15-year diverse nursing background working with a wide range of populations across the U.S. The majority of my nursing career was spent in critical care where I grew a profound appreciation for determining root-cause of illness. I also was greatly influenced by the disparity of mental health care within the acute care medical system where it is largely pushed aside. This is a great disservice to those struggling with mental health illnesses as I truly believe one’s whole being must be addressed to achieve your best version of self. In my current role, I strive for prevention of disease progression and even reversal with an integrative approach. The human body and brain are fascinating structures and my strong critical-thinking background has laid the groundwork to successfully help those seeking out my care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I enjoy seeking out educational opportunities as the field of healthcare allows for lifelong professional development. I never want to be stagnant in my career and enjoy seeking out challenges. I am constantly reading up on current literature, listening to professional podcasts, and participating in continuing education webinar sessions. I am member of Texas Nurse Practitioners and The Nurse Practitioners of Idaho, as well as the Neuroscience education institute.
