About My Clients
I believe that therapy should be a safe space to the individual. I can create that for you when you want to start services with me. I have worked with trauma clients as well as clients with issues with anxiety, depression, PTSD. Mindfulness is said to be an ancient technique, I incorporate my practice with this technique and can teach you the tools to enjoy a better life.
My Background and Approach
I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008. That same year I made the move to West Seattle where my journey began working with the teenage population at a non-profit counseling organization, Consejo. I led individual and group sessions, concentrating on self-esteem, positive affirmations and communication skills. Then, in 2012, I returned to school, receiving my Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington in 2015. I work with a wide range of clients, including younger children, adolescents, adults and couples, addressing issues such as mood disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, oppression, loss and grief. My approach to therapy is using peer reviewed and evidenced-based techniques. I use interventions such as CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, play therapy, meditation, mindfulness and group therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Latinx from Texas. I enjoy working with people of all races, ethnicities and cultures, and I am passionate in advocating for social justice issues. I believe that when transgressions occur and cause trauma, one should have a place to find safety, allyship and advocacy. I myself have Dyslexia and HSP (Highly Sensitive Personality), which have presented challenges in my life, but I have grown from them and learned to use them as the gifts that they are. For example, being highly sensitive enables me to be an excellent empathetic listener, and my dyslexia sometimes allows me to see possibilities for growth that others might not. When working with clients I use my innate skills to understand the problems they are facing and find avenues to improve their lives and relationships.
